Dr. Mary Dean Brewer was the founding chair of the “Women of Achievement Awards” and she referred to the value of her early experiences as a Girl Scout and how they contributed to her leadership skills and self-confidence.In honor of Dr. Brewer’s memory, the annual awards she founded in 1998 are now known as the “Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction Awards”. These awards recognize outstanding women and their achievements, and help show girls that they too, can be the leaders of the future. The proceeds from the event’s auctions go to the Mary Dean Brewer Scholarship for graduating Senior Girl Scouts.
